Air Chief Marshal The Lord Peach is a former senior British military leader with a distinguished career spanning more than five decades in defence and international security. He served as Chief of the Defence Staff from 2016 to 2019, leading the British Armed Forces during a period of significant operational demand and strategic change.

Following this, he was appointed Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, becoming the senior military adviser to the North Atlantic Council and providing strategic guidance to the Alliance during a time of heightened global tension. His career has encompassed operational command, defence diplomacy, and leadership at the highest levels of the UK and international military structures.

Lord Peach is a member of the House of Lords and continues to contribute to public service through his work on security, defence, and leadership, drawing on deep experience in strategy, governance, and international cooperation.

Throughout his service, Lord Peach has been a strong advocate for the UK’s Reserve Forces and Cadet organisations, recognising their vital contribution to national defence, skills development, and social mobility. He has consistently championed the role of volunteers and young people in strengthening the connection between the Armed Forces and wider society.

A member of the House of Lords, Lord Peach continues to contribute to public life through his work on security, defence, and leadership. He had the very great honour to carry the Sword of Mercy at King Charles III’s coronation on 6 May 2023.

He is a family man and values the support of his wife and children, who have shared the demands and commitments of a life in service.
